Sodexo Dispute-Victory!Sodexo Dispute (Feb 2010)

We are pleased to say that this has now been resolved and would like to thank all UNISON Branches who have sent us donations and letters of support.

We would also like to thank our colleagues in the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust who stood by us throughout the Dispute.

We are hoping to be able to compensate our members for some of their loss of earnings for the days spent out on the picket line and if you should wish to make a donation - cheques should be made payable to North Devon Health Branch Hardship Fund and sent to:

UNISON North Devon Health Branch
UNISON Office
Suite 2 Munro House
North Devon District Hospital
Raleigh Park
Barnstaple
Devon EX31 4JB

Once again, thank you for all your support! - Now watch the video!

UNISON and Healthcare

I love NHS!UNISON is the UK's largest healthcare trade union - over 400,000 people who work in the NHS and for private contractors providing NHS services are UNISON members.

Our health members are nurses, student nurses, midwives, health visitors, healthcare assistants, paramedics, cleaners, porters, catering staff, medical secretaries, clerical and admin staff and scientific and technical staff.

And that's not all of us!

UNISON is a powerful voice for working people in the United Kingdom. We have over 1.3 million members working in public services, the community and voluntary sector and for private companies.

Looking after people at work

We represent our members in many ways, offering help and advice at work, raising your professional/local concerns or by highlighting issues that will affect all health workers at a national level. We work together to make sure our members' concerns are heard - whether it's about pay, health and safety, discrimination or the future of our NHS.

Of interest to any previous NHS employees returning to NHS work:

Agenda for Change - North Devon Healthcare Trust
Annual Leave - Calculation of Reckonable Service

eg: A person who worked for the NHS for 5 years, then left for 2 years and rejoined 3 years ago the reckonable service would be 8 years (not 10 yrs). However, the Trust has the discretion to take into account periods of employment with employers outside the NHS, where these are judged to be relevant to NHS employment.
